Managed Redis

A dedicated Redis instance on your environment's private network, for caching, sessions, rate limiting, pub/sub and job queues. Persistence, eviction policy and memory limit are configurable per instance.

Redis 7.4, Valkey 8 on request

Features

Low latency
Runs on the same private network as your application, so requests don't leave the data centre.
Persistence
RDB snapshots, AOF, both or neither. Use no persistence for a pure cache.
Eviction policy
allkeys-lru for caches, noeviction for queues. Configurable per instance.
Failover
Primary and replica with automatic failover on Scale and Custom.
Queue defaults
Settings tested with BullMQ, Sidekiq, Celery and Laravel Horizon, including keyspace notifications.
Memory metrics
Memory use by key type, hit ratio and evictions in the dashboard, with an alert before the limit is reached.

Connecting

Connection details are added to your application's environment when you attach the database.
Environment variable added to your application
REDIS_URL=rediss://default:****@redis.internal:6380/0

Included

  • Daily snapshots when persistence is enabled
  • TLS-only connections, private by default
  • Minor version upgrades
  • Metrics for operations per second, hit ratio, memory, evictions and clients
  • Multiple logical databases per instance

Pricing

Managed database instances are included in every plan. Engines can be mixed.

Questions

How much memory does Redis get?

By default 2 GB on Launch, 4 GB on Grow and 8 GB on Scale, taken from the plan's memory. You can change it in the dashboard.

Can Redis be the primary datastore?

With AOF persistence and daily snapshots it can hold session data, leaderboards and similar. Keep data you can't afford to lose in PostgreSQL or MongoDB.

Do you support Redis Cluster?

Cluster mode is available on Custom plans. A single instance handles hundreds of thousands of operations per second, which is enough for most applications.
