About 9live
9live is a managed hosting company based in Bangalore. We run application and database infrastructure for software teams that want dedicated hardware and direct access to the engineers operating it.
Why we started
The teams we worked with kept choosing between two options. A platform-as-a-service was easy to start on, but its per-resource pricing grew quickly with the application. A virtual server was cheaper, but it left database upgrades, backups and security patches with people who would rather be working on the product.
9live sits between the two. Customers get dedicated hardware and managed databases at a fixed monthly price, and we do the operational work: patching, backups, monitoring and incident response.
We run our servers in Mumbai because that is where most of our customers and their users are, and because a growing number of Indian companies need their data stored in India.
How we work
- Pricing
- Plans have a fixed monthly price. The only usage-based charge is bandwidth above the included allowance.
- Support
- Requests are answered by the engineers who operate the platform, not a separate support tier.
- Incidents
- We post incidents on our status page and publish a written report for any outage that affects customers.
- Data location
- Customer data stays in India unless the customer chooses a region outside it.
- Limitations
- We publish what the platform doesn't do, so teams can tell early whether it fits.
