Hosting for SaaS products
Infrastructure is usually the largest part of a SaaS product's cost of revenue. A fixed monthly cost per environment makes gross margin easier to forecast, and dedicated hardware keeps performance consistent as customers grow.
Common problems
- Egress, request and database I/O charges grow with customer usage that you don't bill for directly.
- On shared CPU, one large customer's report or import slows down everyone else.
- Enterprise customers ask for an SLA, a DPA and data residency before signing.
- Staging and preview environments double the hosting bill on per-service platforms.
How 9live helps
- Fixed cost per environment
- Model hosting cost as a fixed monthly figure. Upgrades are planned rather than discovered on an invoice.
- Dedicated compute
- vCPUs are pinned to your environment, so performance depends on your workload only.
- Read replicas
- Scale includes a PostgreSQL read replica for reporting, exports and analytics queries.
- Staging included
- Grow and Scale include a staging environment with its own database.
- Paperwork for enterprise deals
- Published SLA, DPA and sub-processor list, and hosting in India for customers who require it.
Suggested plan
Scale adds the read replica, hourly backups, a 4-hour support response and a contractual uptime SLA, which enterprise customers usually ask about.
16 vCPU · 48 GB · 500 GB NVMe · 3, plus a read replica managed databases
Questions
Can we run single-tenant deployments for large customers?
Yes. Each customer can have its own environment on its own plan, managed from one account.
How do you handle traffic peaks?
Each plan has dedicated headroom. For larger planned events, such as a launch, we can move you to a bigger plan for the period and back afterwards.
